Inner Connection to Truth:Lee Yao Cheng Solo Exhibition
Stones are the ancient narrators of the earth, quietly layered through the river of time, bearing the shifts of civilization and the flow of memory.
In artist Lee Yao Cheng’s latest solo exhibition “Inner Connection to Truth”, he employs stone, resin, and light as his primary media, seeking to transform fragments of life into forms that can be contemplated, leaving within them the imprints of time. Through stones shaped by weathering, transport, and sedimentation, he interprets life as a process built upon layered identities and repeated routines, offering a reflection on his own creative trajectory.
For Lee, creation is both an outward response and an inward gaze. He reads the textures of stone with care, gently sealing within them the fractures and breath they contain. By meditating on the ways light penetrates, refracts, and lingers, he allows it to wander freely across the surfaces, inviting moments of stillness in which the viewer may rediscover the encounters and experiences that have nourished his art and shaped his life.
This exhibition is not merely a presentation of works, but a quiet threshold Lee has carved within time and the self. It invites viewers to locate their own reflection within vast landscapes and temporal expanses, and to embark on a slow exploration—mirroring the ongoing search for authenticity, direction, and balance within the continual unfolding of life。

Lee Yao Cheng
Born in Taichung in 1993, Lee Yao Cheng graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at Dayeh University in 2016. From an early age, he was fascinated by the textures of stone and the shifting qualities of light, observing the world through photography before extending this sensitivity to the medium of stone. Beginning with raw fragments, he uncovers their inner narratives, creating works that are at once poetic and infused with a sense of time. His practice not only reveals natural patterns but also condenses memory, history, and inner emotion into enduring forms.
Lee has held numerous solo exhibitions across Taiwan, including “Chasing Light”, “Phototaxis Journal”, “Phototaxis Microcosm”, and “Phototaxis”. His works have been widely presented in group exhibitions, with appearances at art fairs in Taipei, Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung, as well as international platforms such as World Art Dubai and Art Busan. Currently based in Taichung, he continues to explore the resonance of time, space, and spirit through the interplay of stone and light.
