周晏旭 Chou Yen-Hsu : Summoner of Birds
出生於台灣的藝術家周晏旭（b.1997)，現居英國，2023年取得倫敦藝術大學美術碩士學位，現就讀於牛津大學。作品曾展出於蘇格蘭皇家學院與威尼斯軍械庫等地。本次展覽《Summoner of Birds》源於藝術家童年對鳥類的想像，並延伸至對人類與自然界邊界的探索。藝術家身著迷彩偽裝衣，於倫敦聖詹姆士公園演奏大提琴，與環境融合為神秘角色。鴿群隨其身體擺動而聚散，展開一段關於親近與疏離、節奏與平衡的詩意行動。周晏旭的創作結合真實自然與虛構生態，在現實與想像之間建構出屬於個人的避難所與療癒空間。
Born in Taiwan and currently based in the UK, Chou Yen-Hsu holds an MFA from the University of the Arts London and is now studying at the University of Oxford. His works have been shown internationally, including at the Royal Scottish Academy and the Arsenale in Venice.
Summoner of Birds draws from the artist’s childhood imagination of birds and examines the boundaries between species and human-controlled spaces. Wearing a Ghillie suit, Chou performs on the cello in London’s St James’s Park, blending into the landscape as a mythical figure. Pigeons, drawn by feed, move in and out around him—forming a quiet choreography of nearness and distance.Chou’s practice spans both real and fictional ecologies, crafting reflective spaces of healing between the natural and the speculative.
